I believe that “we are what we repeatedly do”, so I will introduce myself to you by telling you how I like to spend my time.
I take a lot of photos. When I remember to bring my camera with me, I like to photograph nature. Living in such a beautiful area, there is plenty of beauty and inspiration all around me.
I play a lot of board games with the Traverse City Board Gamers. We meet every Sunday at Earthen Ales, a local brewery, and we play all kinds of fun and unique board games. My current favorite has to be Terraforming Mars.
Like most people, I appreciate all the animal videos and neat facts the internet has to offer. I spend a fair amount of time “scrolling”, and I am sure I’m not alone in that!
My cat gets a lot of attention from me–usually while I’m watching superhero T.V. shows (I had a dream I was helping the Flash the other night). I like to multi-task: cat cuddles and T.V., cat cuddles and reading, cat cuddles and Pokemon games… Indoor hobbies are useful for sharing space with a small fuzzy friend.
I have a plot at the Traverse City Community Garden, and it has been such a learning experience. Parts of it were difficult, and I didn’t make it to the garden as often as I wanted to over the summer, but it gave me a good understanding of the experience and what I would like to do differently in the future. Right now, I am working on getting involved with the organization in order to help them manage what they have and grow efficiently and effectively.
Lately, I have spent a lot of my free evenings teaching myself WordPress, and building my website. I have also been designing business cards for myself and my long-time friend Kate, who is working on a transition to total self employment (like a total badass).
In the future I hope to spend more time on the water (I love swimming and paddleboarding in the summer), and more time on traditional art forms such as drawing and painting. It’s where my love of art started, and getting back to those roots will be a rewarding endeavor. I’m sure of it.
